FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got questions about renting or driving a Tesla? We got you. Find your answers here, or contact us!
To open the doors of Model 3 or Model Y:
Push on the wider part of the handle with your thumb and then pull the thinner part. You will find the key cards in the center console under the armrest. You will need the key cards to put the car in drive, as well as lock and unlock the vehicle.
To open the doors of Model S or Model X:
Push in the door handle and it will slide out for you. You will find the key cards or key fob in the center console.
Once you are inside the car, to open the doors from the inside push on the button on top of the door handle.
PRO TIP! Use the "Energy" screen while driving to see the vehicle's real time and projected energy usage to help you maximize the range of the car. You can find the Energy app from the car's Application Launcher (it looks like a stock market chart):
The "Trip" option monitors how much energy you are using while traveling to the destination you set in the navigation system. The gray line shows the predicted levels, and the orange line shows your actual consumption.
We strongly recommend using the touchscreen's navigation system to plan your route. When you have a destination selected, the car will automatically calculate your approximate battery usage to destination, and if needed it will show you Tesla supercharger locations along the route and recommended charging duration.
Otherwise, to find chargers, tap on the map in the touchscreen to show the lightning bolt icon, then tap that to show Tesla chargers near you. The red pins are Superchargers (very fast). The gray pins are "Destination Chargers" (slower).

Tap on a charging station to set that as a destination in the navigation system.
You can also use the PlugShare app to locate public EV chargers that are not part of the Tesla network. Note: you might need a special adapter to use these, please contact us if you are unsure. The vehicle comes with a J-1772 adapter, but it does not come with a CHAdeMO or CCS1 adapter. These are available upon request prior to the start of your trip.

If you are traveling to the Lawton/Ft. Sill area or other areas of rural Oklahoma, you will need a special charging adapter. Please contact us if you have not already added it to your reservation.
When using a Tesla charger, press the circle button on top of it to open the charge port located on the rear driver side of the car, then plug it in and make sure it is seated all the way in. The charge port will turn light blue, then green to indicate it is charging.
When finished, press and hold the same circle button to release the charger from the car. Make sure the car is unlocked.
You will not need to present payment at a Tesla supercharger. We will get the invoice and send you a reimbursement request at the end of your trip.
For non-Tesla charging stations, you can use the appropriate charging adapter. There are 3 types of adapters:

J-1772 (included with the car and located in the black bag in the trunk)
CHAdeMO
CCS1
The CHAdeMO and CCS1 adapters do not come with the car by default and are offered as an add-on extra. Please contact us if you would like to add one to your reservation.

We recommend using the PlugShare app to identify which kind of charging adapter a public charging station uses.

You can also charge at home using the mobile cable provided in the trunk. We provide two types of home charging adapters:
- A regular 110v outlet will be very slow and recharge only a few miles worth of range per hour.
- We also include adapters for 240v outlets (such as a clothes dryer or similar), which will allow you to fully recharge overnight.
Maintaining proper charge is very important. Avoid letting the battery sit below 10% for extended periods of time, and NEVER DRIVE THE BATTERY DOWN TO 0%. This will leave you stranded and cause damage to the battery. You will be responsible for any towing and repair charges as a result of this.
We also strongly recommend that you do not charge the battery to 100% unless absolutely necessary. Doing so will degrade the battery life more rapidly.
